Titikas is a traditional dance of the Orang Sungai, which literally means 'River People,' in the Kinabatangan area of Sandakan. Like other ethnic dances, titikas is inspired by the daily activities of the community. The hopping movements of the male dancers resemble children playing the 'ingki-ingki' game (known as Hopscotch in English). This dance is typically performed during social occasions such as weddings, harvest festivals, and to welcome honored guests.
