The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SE S-AWC is the first-to-market in Canada mid-size crossover SUV with a dual electric motor hybrid system. It features two 80 horsepower electric motors, one to power the front wheels, and the other for the rear, along with a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine to charge the batteries and kick in for additional power when needed. This is a unique system offered in a PHEV, and one Mitsubishi is proud to offer in Canada.

We had the chance to take the Outlander PHEV on a short test drive at the Salon de l'Auto in Québec to see how this vehicle operates and uses it's S-AWC all-wheel drive system to conquer the snow. Mitsubishi setup a small off-road course for driver's to test out with large pot holes and uneven terrain. We were quite impressed with it's ability to drive through this environment, especially while maintaining full EV mode.

Since this is only a Snapshot episode, we briefly cover the features and tech found in this car, but don't have the time to go in to depth with it's offerings. We hope to be able to feature the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT S-AWC, the fully loaded model, down the road.
