Cybersecurity can be a pretty confusing thing for small businesses. The information you see online is confusing and you sometimes get conflicting advice from IT people.
I often find that the easiest way to implement anything in your business is by following a framework.
That is why I am a big fan of cyber essentials – it’s a framework you can implement that can protect your business against a cyber attack.
But lots of the cyber security frameworks are advanced. So is there a way in your small business that you can look at a way to look at cyber security in an easy-to-understand way?
Well, let me introduce you to the cyber security framework that you’ve never heard of – the onion.
What is the onion framework? Is it because cyber security makes you cry? No, although I’ve known a few business owners get pretty upset when they’ve had a cyber attack.
No, it’s because an onion is made of different layers. And a good cyber security strategy also relies on different layers of protection. A single layer is usually not good enough.
