The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday responded strongly to the allegations made by Canada on India's alleged link in Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing in June.
MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that "Canada is gaining the reputation as a safe haven for terrorists, and extremists." He added that the allegations are politically driven.
The tension between the two nations escalated when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations of Indian involvement in the assassination of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey in June.
