Michal Gondko plays four ‘Polonica’ from the manuscript II.6.15 of the Musikbibliothek der Stadt Leipzig (dated 1615, formerly known as ‘Dlugoraj Lute Book’ but more likely copied by an anonymous student of the Leipzig University). In this and other European sources of lute music dating from around 1600, the Latin word ‘polonicum’ is often used to identify a piece of music with Polish connections.
