In October 2020, Defence marked the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) and its achievements in implementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda. UNSCR 1325 was the first UN Security Council Resolution to expressly recognise the disproportionate impact conflict and post-conflict situations have on women and girls, and calls on Australia and other international Member States to integrate a gender perspective into all peacekeeping operations, peace processes and resettlement programs.
