Minibus taxi drivers in and around Pretoria will suspend operations on Thursday in retaliation after police impounded over 50 vehicles following clashes.
Last week state-subsidised buses were shot at and stoned in Mamelodi township, east of the capital, allegedly by minibus taxi drivers demanding control of routes earmarked for the new AutoPax bus service.
The South African National Taxi Council says the strike will be extended to Frida to include Johannesburg if the government does not respond.
