The following are the four points to consider when you receive an invitation marked with RSVP:
1. This term RSVP comes from the French expression "répondez s'il vous plaît" whic means, please reply.
2. It is used in formal occasions e.g. wedding, debut and other formal gatherings
3. It is expected that you should inform the host if you are attending or not.
4. If you are unsure of your attendance, it is better to decline.
