"Insenso"
An Opera without Music
by Dimitris Dimitriadis
Molodoi, Kiev Academic Youth Theatre
Premiere, March 28th 2018
A passionate monologue, inspired by the film Senso (1954) by the renowned Luchino Visconti, that traces the human borders within the twirl of love and passion and the human agony after the overwhelming act of betrayal.
Dimitris Dimitriadis begins his story where the film ends and creates a new play, highlighting the personal drama of its protagonist Livia Serpieri.
The play's director Emmanouil Koutsourelis, chose to split the monologue in to two actresses Anna Bascheva and Victoria Romashko, to incarnate the multi colored nuances of the tormented psyche of Livia Serpieri, in an avant-garde staging.
The production is a collaboration between two theatre organizations from Athens, Greece and Kiev, Ukraine, the Nonprofit Co Art Syndicate and the Molodoi Academic Youth Theatre respectively.
The translation (from Greek to Ukrainian) is by Andreii Savenko, the choreography by Aleksandr Manshylin, the set design by Maria Kalamara, the costumes by Laskaris Valavanis, the lighting design by Marios Koutsourelis, the original sound design by K. Vita and the poster design by Alexandros Psychoulis.
The play has been included in the Molodoi repertoire.
