For those of you who are pretty new to V-Ray, this tutorial will teach you the basics of how to actually render with V-Ray Next (and earlier versions). With the advent of progressive rendering, it is now easier than ever to get good rendering results. Chaos group has done a lot in the latest versions to really make Vray user friendly.
In this tutorial I will show that you really only need to adjust a few key render settings most of the time, and you can still get excellent quality architectural renderings. Specifically, you can use just the time settings and the noise threshold, and you will have complete control over quality. I also show the basic global illumination (GI) settings I use, which are very simple and straightforward. Don't be overwhelmed by all the settings in Vray. I will show that good renderings are actually quite simple to achieve.
In addition to basic render settings, I also show how to setup V-Ray render channels and which ones I use. This is helpful when it comes to post-processing your architectural visualizations.
The final thing I demonstrate in this tutorial is a few of the settings that are built into the V-Ray frame buffer, specifically the lens effects. These are a post effect, meaning they are not burned into the rendering and can be adjusted after the fact. They create their own render channel as well.
