The Pitzbach is used by a couple of companies in the area as an advanced or extreme tour (fortgeschrittene Tour). This canyon offers pretty much every aspect of canyoning, from high jumps (max 10 m), a cool slide (roughly 7 m), and nice abseils (max 25 m), to very narrow sections. The Pitzbach used to normally be continued into the Hühnerbach below, but ever since Landkreis Bad-Tölz Wolfratshausen forbade canyoning in the area this canyon has become forbidden as well, as it forms the border between Germany and Austria. Even though it is rather sad to walk past the beautiful Hühnerbach on the way up and not be able to run it, the Pitzbach is still well worth it.
Parking: 47°34'56.3"N 11°37'02.4"E
Ascent: From the parking area take the road up through the gate and over the field. Keep following this road for about 25 min until you reach a Y-shaped fork in the road. The road leading slowly down on the right is the exit of the Pitzbach, so take the left road upwards. At the next fork in the road take a right, and there you reach the beginning of the Pitzbach. (40 min)
Descent: Highest rappel: 25m. Anchors are very good (Spring 2021) (2h)
The way back: after the canyon opens up completely, but before you reach the Hühnerbach coming from the south, there is a path leading back up to the same path you took for the ascent. (25 min)
