Greetings, and welcome to the world of Bulgari. Today, I'll be your guide to the usage and care of your Bulgari Digono Scuba.
Now this is an automatic winding watch, by means of hidden case back winding rotor. But you can manually wind it for instance, should it run down entirely, by taking the crown, threading it in a counterclockwise direction until you feel it pop out of its water resistant stem tube. And then in that first position, flush to the case, turn 20 to 30 turns, such that the watch is now beating. And you'll see the seconds hand advance to confirm that the movement is beating. Now, at that point, you can set the time, set the date, and the watch will continue to wind itself automatically, but should you wish to fully wind it up to the maximum rated power reserve of 42 hours, simply continue turning in a clockwise direction. You'll hear a subtle click or tick within the watch, that's the bridle style main spring slipping by design, to relieve excess strain. It's your audible sign the watch is fully wound. But take heart, you cannot accidentally over wind the watch because of the bridle architecture, so wind until you hear a subtle click.
Now two subsidiary functions allow more precise setting of time. The first of which, two detents out from the winding position, pull to the stop. That crown position is setting or stop seconds. You'll not that the seconds hand is halted and the movement has stopped. Now you can synchronize to a known accurate reference time, such as an online atomic clock. Open a browser, find an atomic clock. Simply search, atomic clock, then set the watch to the same hour and the next nearest minute, stopping the seconds hand at 12. So set to the next nearest minute versus your reference, and when the reference catches up to the time that you've set one minute ahead, that's when you push the crown back in. You resume the beat of the balance, and now the watch is synchronized to a known accurate reference time.
Now, there's another function known as quick set. It can be used for the date. This is for rapidly cycling the date should it run down, or encounter an irregular length month. Pull the crown out one detent from winding, and one detent in from setting or stop seconds. And then simply turn and rapidly set the date. This is why it's known as a quick set. Find your date, and then thread the crown back in until it stops. Take note, never use the quick set function between nine PM and three AM. This is the period, the arch of the day, when the watch is automatically involved in jumping its own date. So if you attempt to use the quick set while the watch is engaged in change over, you will damage the movement, therefore, if you must roll over the date during the danger zone, pull the crown to stop seconds and manually advance the hours through the danger zone and out of the danger zone to roll over the date, and if necessary, bring yourself into the safe zone to use the quick set.
In many ways, it's like a zero to 60 minute chronograph built into an automatic watch. Now, it's also important to take note of three areas of hazard with respect to the handling of the watch. Water, magnetism, and shock. Now this is a water resistant watch to 300 meters. This is sufficient for professional diving, however it should be noted that you must avoid accidental drowning. That is, keep the crown threaded in entirely to a stop. Never unscrew the crown, not just while the watch is submerged, but while there is water on the case. As attempting to thread the crown out when it is wet, can bypass the case seals introduce water to the interior of the watch.
Finally, every watch requires periodic service. Anything from a minor service every two to three years per Bvlgari, which will involve a water test, restoration of case water resistance, and a check of total performance. Or a comprehensive service necessary every three to five years per Bvlgari, which will involve a replacement of worn strap if necessary, restoration of original factory metal finish, restoration of water resistance, as well as cleaning, oiling, and adjustment of the movement. Perform these services solely at authorized service centers where specialized equipment, trained personnel, and Bvlgari factory replacement parts are available to preserve the value of your watch as both instrument, and as investment. Moreover, these agencies solely are authorized to back all labor and parts invested with a Bvlgari factory service warranty.
