The Green Deal is facing a reality check as protests and discontent sweep across Europe. At the same time, the ongoing digital transformation is changing how Europeans work, communicate, and engage on policy matters. As Europe navigates its necessary green transition, it is crucial that citizens are fully engaged both as beneficiaries and proactive agents of change in the fight against climate change, with data and digital solutions offering a vital pathway to achieving this.
This hybrid Policy Dialogue examined how digitalisation empowers community action for the green transition, showcasing both the opportunities data and digital solutions provide for citizen involvement, and the accompanying challenges. The event, furthermore, seeked to grasp how the EU's policies can help enable the use of data and digital solutions for citizen engagement in the green transition.
