After Mozart's exceptional works for wind ensemble, the tradition essentially disappeared, with only isolated exceptions during the nineteenth century. Here are those exceptions, great works by Gounod, Raff, Dvořák, and Richard Strauss.
CORRECTION: The Newton Classics reissue of the Strauss pieces lists the Wind Serenade Op. 7 as lasting 2'23", which is impossible even though I unthinkingly mentioned it in the video. The actual timing is 8'45" so the whole thing really is (delightfully) there. Thanks to all who mentioned it!
