Brexit Secretary David Davis has said he is not sure postponing the general election “can be legally done.” Speaking to the BBC, he said he thought doing so would need some “change of law” but because Parliament does not exist at the moment, he believed they were “locked into 9 June". Mr Davis said he also believed the public would not want to postpone the vote: "On the one hand we want to respect the people injured, and killed, and pay proper respect. But on the other hand, people are doing these things because they despise the freedoms we have, like the freedom to go out on a Saturday night - or cast a vote,” he said.
