STORYLINE:
US soldiers based in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit received awards on Friday for service in the combat zone.
Soldiers from the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division received awards at a ceremony at Camp Speicher, which has been providing troops for recent operations against militants.
The awards were presented by base commander Lieutenant Colonel Steve Russell, who pinned them individually to each man's chest.
Most of the men said they were pleased with the recognition.
Only infantrymen and medics get the awards.
The Combat Infantryman Badge is a blue rectangle with a musket inset and a wreath surrounding it - while the Combat Medical Badge is a stretcher with a medical insignia.
