Townsville is a beautiful city on the Queensland Coast just above Bowen and below Cairns. It has a lot of industry, a beautiful waterfront, significant military history and the incredible Castle Rock as its prominent landmark.
I was lucky enough to visit here for a few days with family back in May (yes I know I’m well behind on posting my travel updates 😅) and thought I’d share a quick little recap of some of my favourite places and highlights that you may be interested in checking out or visiting on your own trip here.
Townsville favourites:
1. The strand
2. The Rockpool
3. Jezzine Fort
4. Kissing Point Fort
5. North Queensland Army Museum
6. Castle Hill Lookout
7. Museum of Tropical Queensland
8. Riverway Lagoons
9. Ross River
10. Street art trail
Additionally another spot just north of Townsville that I really love is Saunders Beach. You’ll find a great little free camp there, lots of coconuts and interesting shells as well as a few fishing spots, beach walks and a nice view across the water to Magnetic Island.
As usual feel free to let me know your thoughts or whether you have been able to visit here yourself, otherwise feel free to check out my current adventures and new location inspiration at [ Ссылка ]_
*Note: We visited in May well before the Townsville of Magnetic Island lockdowns. You may also wish to check the reopening date of the aquarium since it’s already been a while since our visit. Safe travels everyone!
