Reviews of weather events, natural disasters, astronomical phenomena and wildlife around the world
A series of powerful storms and cyclones in southern Europe have caused widespread flooding in Italy and Spain. But with the arrival of November, temperatures have begun to drop rapidly. Heavy precipitation, which falls as rain on the coast, falls as snow in low temperatures in mountainous areas. After a hot summer and an unstable autumn, snow has covered Gran Sasso, the highest mountain range in the Apennines and peninsular Italy, in the last few hours. A solid snow cover has settled on the Campo Imperatore plateau, located at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,100 m above sea level in the province of L'Aquila. Heavy snowfalls have occurred in Abruzzo, Ovindoli, Gamberale, Pizzoferrato and other mountainous areas of the country. Snowfall was also recorded by residents of Rifugio (at an altitude of about 1475 m), in Rocca di Mezzo (at an altitude of 1280 m) and in Scanno (at an altitude of 1100 meters).
Moreover, with a sharp drop in temperature, snow began to fall even below 1000 m: in Passolanciano, Pizzoferrato, Pescasseroli, Cocullo, Prati di Tivo nel Teramano and Roccaraso.
Climate uncertainty in 2024 reaches a new level and devalues the forecasts of meteorologists. In other words, no one can now say for sure what kind of winter awaits Italy and all of Europe: cold and harsh or mild and warm.
P.S. thumbnail to the video to attract attention, in fact, there has been no snowfall in Rome (where the Colosseum is located) in 2024.
