A fire broke out on the fifth floor of the administrative building running along the western fringe of CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) station.
The fire has broken on fifth floor of this railway administrative building and 5 fire engines have been brought in to douse the fire.
The incident occured at 5:15 pm IST and an ambulance has been brought in at the spot. Two snorkels are being used to douse the fire.
Amidst heavy traffic and vehicular clogging on DN road due to parking of Fire brigade vehicles, the fire department has been battling the fire. According to reports, the fire has been brought under control and no casualties have been reported yet.
The building houses several important railway offices including that of construction, commercial, materials management and public sector firms controlled by the railway ministry. More than seven fire tending vehicles have been rushed to the spot. Firefighting was currently on, said officials. So far there is no confirmation of anyone being injured, said railway officials.
The fire is said to have started in the Container Corporation Office and railway officials said prima facie it looks like a short-circuit.
