Women under the aegis of Women Unite To Live Initiative, a non-governmental organization, trooped out in their numbers for a rally in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, on Thursday, 8th March, to celebrate International Women’s Day. The group, led by a young and pragmatic former student union leader and women’s right activist Comrade Mrs. Chika Nwachukwu, was the first of its kind in recent time, and only rally held in Imo state to mark this epoch making event. According to the leader, the rally was preceded by free skill acquisition campaign to indigent women, organised out by her group, in partnership with Handmaid Skill Acquisition Centre, based in Port Harcourt, River State. In a written address they made available to journalists, the group called on the Federal Government to expedite actions towards the rescue of the abducted Chibok and Dapchi girls.
