Foreigners entering Japan for the purpose of seeking paid employment must obtain a Japan Work Visa. Japan Work Visas are classified into three types: normal Japan Work Visa, Japan Highly Skilled Professional Visa, and Japan Working Holiday Visa.
Although inhabitants of various countries are free from requiring a visa to enter Japan, the exemption only applies to individuals entering as tourists, short-term visitors, and business persons or for other recreational activities.
Everyone who plans to stay in Japan for an extended period of time (work, education, or family reunion) must get the necessary Japan Visa.
