Here's how to get a lot of EXP fairly quickly in Xenoblade Chronicles 👍
Steps:
1. Set Melia as the party leader and make sure she has Hypnotise and Spear Break equipped.
2. Go to “Raguel Bridge - North” on the Bionis’ Leg
3. Walk diagonally up and to the left until you reach a short cliff overlooking some enemies
4. The orange enemy (a lvl 78 gluttony gogol) is the enemy you need to target. The gray enemies (lvl 75 greed gogols) you need to avoid. If you attack or get seen by one of them then all of them will be aggro-ed on you, making this trick nearly impossible to perform.
5. Jump down from to the same level as the Gogols and walk to edge of cliff.
6. Walk just close enough to the Gluttony Gogol to use Lure (up or down on the D-Pad when targeting an enemy)
7. Mash the A button to initiate combat immediately after using Lure
8. Call your teammates to you by holding ZR and pressing down on the D-Pad. This will prevent them from attacking the enemy. (the reason will be addressed in Step 11)
9. Walk backwards along the edge of the cliff until you reach a divot/crease in the ground.
10. Stop the Gluttony Gogol here by putting it to sleep with Hypnotise. If you use Hypnotise too early or too late the Gogol will probably land on some ground below and survive, causing the trick to fail.
11. After using Hypnotise, select Flee (up or down on the D-Pad) to prevent Melia from auto-attacking the Gogol. Attacking the enemy will cause it to wake up and the trick to fail.
12. Stand perpendicular to the edge of the cliff and use Spear Break on the Gogol, knocking it off the cliff.
Notes:
- If you mess up, you can just let the Gogol defeat you or fast-travel back to “Raguel Bridge - North” to reset the Gogols
- Melia can usually take one hit from the Gluttony Gogol and survive
- The other two teammates don’t make a difference in the performance of this trick so you can just choose whoever
- Teammates that are in the party will get slightly more EXP and AP than teammates that aren’t in the party, but Riki has two abilities that can negate this effect. “Learning All the Time!” on his Innocence skill tree will award the same amount of AP regardless of participation in battle. “Riki See, Riki Do” on his Flexibility skill tree will award the same amount of EXP regardless of participation in battle.
- This trick should work in any version of Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii, 3D, Definitive Edition).
If the enemy is at least 22 levels higher than you then you will get a set amount of EXP based on your level instead based on the enemy’s normal EXP gain. Here’s some resources with the amount of EXP you get per level:
