We are in the Dominican Republic about to experience something called 27 Waterfalls or Veinte-siete Charcos. While tourists have been coming here only since 1994, locals have been coming here for centuries.

So I was reading the reviews and it says if you're not a swimmer, don't do this. But hey, you only live once.

The guide's telling us all about the foliage here and how people used to live in the national monument. Now they don't anymore, but you can see how they could live here because there are so many fruit trees! You'll never go hungry!

We finally reach the first of the waterfalls. We're not going to hit all 27. Those are the for the pros. We're doing the Charcos 101 version.

So we're going to jump into this water. It's about 8 meters deep or 24 feet, give or take. Scared? Yes, but why not?

(excitement, nervousness, apprehension, elation)

Oh my goodness! Talk about overcoming your fears! I did it!

I think I lost my Go-Pro! It's when I jumped in. Ugh, Oh, ok... I'll try to calm down. The guide's going to try to do what? Oh he's never going to find it! It's like a needle in a haystack!

I'm like speechless? That was amazing! Beyond words. I didn't expect that. Everybody said it was great. Well I think it exceeded all expectations.

If you're here longer, take 14, maybe all 27 waterfalls possibly... but you might have to stay all day.

Overcome your fears. It probably took me a lot longer than it should have but I'm still here to tell the tale!

When you come to the Dominican Republic, change your money when you get out of the airport. And also check out different banks because not all banks have the same commission fees.

Also consider getting a tour, not a formalized tour but actually go to the location and get one there. Get a guide. Because you'll save time and money.
