Summary
This video introduces San Francisco's evolved streetcar system, the MUNI Metro. The MUNI Metro is a 62.6 km line with 7 routes operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway, which also runs underground in some parts of the city. It operates like a subway, especially in the center, and runs at high speeds in tunnels. Since the platform heights vary depending on the station, the trains have movable steps.
Another line, the F Line, is for tourists and runs through the city center using old cars. This F Line is characterized by a retro atmosphere, with PCC cars developed in the United States in the 1930s.
The N Line goes from Duboce Park through the Sunset Tunnel, through residential areas, and to Ocean Beach Station. On the day of the city's large marathon event, Bay to Breakers, the terminal station, Ocean Beach, can be particularly crowded.
The new LRV4 cars have also been introduced to the MUNI Metro, and San Francisco's streetcar system continues to evolve.
