The CGIAR Initiative on Diversification in East and Southern Africa (Ukama Ustawi), in collaboration with the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), organized the Regional Participatory Scenario Development Workshop in Pretoria, South Africa, from June 13 to 14, 2024. The workshop aimed to strengthen value chains amidst climate and socio-economic uncertainties and policy constraints by modeling plausible future scenarios based on current maize agricultural practices in East and Southern Africa (ESA). The resulting "State-of-the-Region Report," to be released later this year, will outline a strategy for agricultural transformation.
