I wanted to make this video because people often ask me what streaming devices I use. Many of us use Fire Sticks for our streaming needs. But I wanted show the Mi Box some love. With that said, I believe the Xiaomi Mi Box S is an upgrade over the Fire Stick. Here are the reasons why... 👇
Reason #1 ➡ Since the Mi Box is an Android certified device, it comes with an official version of the Android TV OS. The Android TV software is faster and more responsive than the Fire Stick OS (Android based). Also, the Mi Box gives you access to the Google Play Store (although NOT the full play store that comes with pure Android devices). This allows for easier access to gaming apps and other popular apps without the need to sideload.
Reason #2 ➡ The hardware of the Mi Box has better overall performance with a faster processor and more RAM. This means less buffering and a smoother streaming experience. It comes with a USB slot (for expandable storage and game controllers). Also, the Wi-Fi, built-in Chromecast and Bluetooth are more reliable and stable on the Mi Box in my experience.
Reason #3 ➡ The Mi Box has a cleaner user interface. It is more customizable and has less advertising clutter out of the box. As seen in the video, you can cater the Mi Box to your liking with just a few clicks. You can even take it a step further and install custom launchers which allows you to change the look and feel.
Reason #4 ➡ Unlike the Fire Stick, no Amazon account is needed for initial setup. You are not locked into the Amazon ecosystem.
Note 1: If you want a "pure" Android OS experience (NOT the TV version), the Mi Box is not for you. The Mi Box comes with the latest version of the Android TV software.
Note 2: If you absolutely must have an Ethernet port on your streaming device, I recommend the Nvidia Shield or the Beelink GT King. Bear in mind, both these devices retail at well over $100. Yes, there are much cheaper Android boxes with built-in Ethernet ports out there. However, these are the only 2 Android boxes with Ethernet ports that I recommend. You get what you pay for.

❌ The 4K Fire Stick does a slightly better job converting SDR content to HDR. Streaming 4K content on the 4K Fire Stick is better overall. So if you're only looking for 4K streaming, the Mi Box may not be the best option
❌ Not as portable as a Fire Stick
