During Sept. 22-29, the first edition of annual El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) has been held in Egypt's Red Sea resort town of El Gouna, attracting dozens of Egyptian movie stars and filmmakers and screening tens of films from over 30 countries around the world.
The GFF is seen as an attempt to revive the cinema industry in Egypt and make it a spot for regional and international film competition.
The GFF film gala screens 69 films from 36 countries, including Egypt, the United States, Britain, India, Iraq and others.
During the festival, superstar and top comedian in Egypt Adel Imam has received the Career Achievement Award, and GFF also plans to honor international superstar Forest Whitaker.
