Ginataang Halo-Halo | Binignit Recipe
Ginataang Halo-halo also known as Binignit is one of Filipinos favorite meryenda or snack. Ginataang halo-halo is typically made of glutinous rice balls(bilo-bilo), tapioca pearls (sago), root crops such as kamote (sweet potato), gabi (taro) and purple yam. And it’s not complete without cardaba (saba bananas). All this ingredients are cooked in coconut milk until mixture thickens.
Eating this will make you full already even it’s just a snack.

Ginataang Halo-Halo Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup glutinous rice flour
½ cup water
1 pieces gabi (taro)
2 medium size sweet potato(kamote)
½ kilo purple yam
1 medium size cassava (kamoteng kahoy)
3 pcs saba banana (cardaba)
1 ½ cup sugar (adjust sweetness according to your preference)
2 cups cooked tapioca pearls (sago)
4 cups coconut milk
4 cups coconut cream
Procedure
1. Combine glutinous rice flour and water in a bowl. Mix together until it forms a dough.
2. Form dough into small balls using palm of your hands. Continue until you finish all the dough.
3. Pour coconut milk, coconut cream and sugar in a pot. Stir to dissolve sugar. Let it simmer then add gabi(taro), sweet potato(kamote), purple yam and cassava (kamoteng kahoy). Cook until softened.
4. Add saba bananas(cardaba) and glutinous rice balls(bilo-bilo). Drop bilo-bilo separately to avoid them sticking together. When bilo-bilo(glutinous rice balls) floats it already cooked.
5. Add cooked tapioca pearls(sago). Cook until mixture thickens.
