The 2015 Kia Carnival has arrived. CarAdvice teamed up with Mamamia to battle it out in the Mums vs Dads Challenge. The challenge consists of three parts, fitting a child seat, packing the boot and parking.
In the first instalment, Jo Abi and Alborz Fallah will fit an ISOFIX compatible child-seat in the second-row of the eight-seater.
Jo from Mamamia is representing the mums, while CarAdvice’s Alborz Fallah is doing it for the dads.
Shelly Horton is both the host and judge of the challenges.
Mums vs Dads Challenge: Child Seats
It’s an argument as old as time, when it comes to who’s the better driver, dads just assume that they’re better than the mums.
Well newsflash fellas, car competence is not just about who can get from A to B the fastest, there’s also the ancient Tetris skill of car-boot packing.
Plus the cause of many marital arguments, how on earth do we put the baby seat in?
Jo Abi has three children under the age of 11 while Alborz Fallah has three under 10. It’s pretty evenly matched, so lets fight fair.
This first challenge might just break their spirit - installing a baby seat.
Alborz looks very comfortable fixing the Isofix baby seat; he’s reached over and attached the top tether. He made that look really easy
If you’re ever unsure its best to get it checked by a professional.
Jo is at a disadvantage because the seat is almost the same size as her.
Cleverly she moves the seat forward to access the top tether. But her arms aren’t long enough to reach across so she needs to go through the opposite door.
Alborz is the clear winner and lets just say Jo, well she came up a bit short.
Watch part two to see if Jo can redeem herself in the car boot challenge.
