I love the sound of the loud exhaust on my E39 540i. The exhaust consist of the stock headers, stock cats, and stock midpipe; after that, there is an 18 inch Cherry Bomb resonator and a turn down. Really, the only part that actually muffles the exhaust is the stock cats. It's a perfect V8 sound that sounds aggressive at start up, has a slight rumble during cruise, and sounds glorious at full throttle.

I am selling the car (it's sold by now), and I wanted one more cold start to remember her by before putting the stock resonator back on it to make a it just a muffler delete. The muffler delete is way better than stock, but it is still too quiet for me.
