This is a punchy, high energy fanfare composed by SMU composition major Derrick Horne for brass quintet. It features a sizzling piccolo trumpet solo, although every instrument gets a chance to shine. This piece draws from the basic fanfare form and infuses pop and jazz harmonies to create a forceful yet melodic composition. Premiered at SMU on November 23, 2013. Featuring SMU students Paul Torrisi on piccolo trumpet, Garrett Lindholm on Bb trumpet, Jeffrey Moore on horn, Myles Blakemore on trombone, and Benjamin Beall on tuba.
