This is a long and boring video - I just wanted to have a record of what the cycleway looked like in case it is removed, and I also wanted to document some lessons learned from this particular design. Unless you are into this sort of stuff, I wouldn't bother with it!
1. Drivers can’t park - lots of cars had one or two wheels up on the plastic kerbing, intruding into the lane and increasing the risk of being doored by a passenger
2. Poles in the lane - the bright plastic poles that are used to mark the cycle lane and littered throughout it, probably knocked off by careless or hopeless drivers having problems parking. This alone shows why proper concrete kerbs are required
3. Confusing lines - by that, I mean not being sure which line to ride when crossing at intersections. Use green paint to indicate the proper route would be a big help
4. Parking in no stopping zones, blocking sight lines and the cycleway
5. Terrible Epsom Rd crossing - this experience was very different to riding the cycleway on a weekend, when traffic was much lighter. Getting across Epsom Rd four times was a ghastly experience
6. 20km/h lane vs 30km/h road - maybe you could summarise it as safety vs speed?
7. Improved intersection geometry - I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I thought the merge area before each roundabout was setup better this time
8. Drivers speeding into roundabouts - I found one intersection where the side street had speed cushions, so I reckon all roundabouts need them to slow down drivers on their approach
