Christchurch businessman Duane Major set up the Givealittle page to try and raise $2m to tender for the Awaroa Inlet in the Abel Tasman National Park, currently sitting at $1.4m with a week to go until the tender closes.
This afternoon, philanthropist Gareth Morgan offered to make up the difference to $2m, but there are strings attached: he will give the public the same access they currently have but wants to use part of the property for his own private benefit.
