Title: "The Diet of Worms"
In 1521, Martin Luther stood before the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms to defend his criticisms of the Catholic Church. Despite pressure to recant, Luther famously refused, stating he could not go against conscience and scripture. This act solidified his role in shaping Protestant Reformation.
