It was bound to happen sooner or later! :P This is my latest faulty ebay find and what I'm hoping will turn out to be a fun little project. I've repaired/modded all kinds of home consoles over the years but when it comes to arcade hardware I'm 100% n00b!
So, I got this faulty MVS from ebay for £20 including shipping thinking it was a low enough price to mess around with and try fixing. If I don't manage to bring it back to life then at least I'll have gained some new experience working with arcade hardware. And, if I do manage to bring it back to life then I can enjoy some awesome Neo Geo action without the need for emulators! A win win situation! XD
I currently have no equipment/harware for testing this mobo and would like to know the cheapest way to do so. Currently I have some old PC PSUs, a VGA monitor and a spare Saturn controller I can put towards the project. That's literally it. I know I'll need a few more things but need to do my research. Any suggestions are very welcome and much appreciated.
This will no doubt be a very slow-burning project as I really don't have the funds to spend on something like this. So this will be a super low budget affair and I'll build/hack/bodge when needed if it saves a few £/$ :P . I'm in no rush so if it takes me a few months then it's no problem. For now I'd just like to get to the stage where I can confirm whether or not the mobo is salvageable. After that I can start thinking about consolising or building a mini cab to house it etc.
Thanks for watching!
