ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) A deadly flesh eating bacteria called vibrio vulnificus has been spreading across the state. An Escambia County man says he is being treated for it at a local hospital. He said he got violently sick after he ate raw oysters last night.The Escambia County Health Department has not confirmed this yet.It would be the second case confirmed in the county. Santa Rosa County also confirmed a case of the deadly bacteria. Nine people have died, out of the 28 who contracted the bacterium.Vibrio vulnificus is usually found in warm, salty seawater and is most often ingested by people through raw shellfish.You can also get it by going in the water with an open wound.
