My Swiss Rifle collection has basically reached completion with the long awaited acquisition of a K31 Carbine. This rifle, designed by W+B Bern in Switzerland, incorporates the final iteration of the Schmidt-Rubin straight pull bolt action. Prior to World War 2 just about every military in the world was replacing their long rifles with more manageable carbine length firearms. The K31 was Switzerland's answer to the problem of adopting an universal short rifle for it's troops. The K31 was meant to replaced both the K11 carbine and G1911 rifles in Swiss service and hopefully save the Swiss some money in the process. The end result was a fantastic rifle that was as light and portable as the carbine but just as deadly accurate as the full length rifle. The K31 truly is one of the most excellent military surplus rifles the world has ever known. I got this one from Empire Arms via my C&R license and doing business with them was a pleasure. I just wish ammo was cheaper!
