Starting his career as a child actor, he is best known for his role of Alex Handris on the long running CBS classic Norman Lear sitcom, One Day At A Time along with Valerie Bertinelli, Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington. He also starred in the TV sitcom Jennifer Slept Here with Ann Jillian and Geogia Engel. Glenn is the son of the famous Archie Comics artist, Henry Scarpelli.
Glenn is presently working as the CEO of Sedona Now Network. Glenn Scarpelli has been in the entertainment business for over 40 years. Starting his career as a child actor, he is best known for his role of ALEX on the long running CBS Classic Sitcom, One Day At A Time along with Valerie Bertinelli, Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington. Glenn debuted on Broadway with Anne Bancroft in Golda, returned to Broadway with Al Pacino in Richard III and co-starred with Audrey Hepburn in the Peter Bogdanovich feature film, They All Laughed. Glenn was featured in 2004 on the VH1 special 100 greatest teen stars.
For the past 24 years, Glenn has been a resident of Sedona, AZ and is the founder/owner of Channel 18, Sedona NOW TV. The TV Station has been nominated for 4 Rocky Mountain Emmys. The station has been on the air serving its community for 19 years showcasing all there is to See and Do in beautiful Sedona. Glenn has brought the Sedona NOW brand to a statewide audience each week the hit morning show Sonoran Living on ABC 15 in Arizone. Glenn co-hosts and produces segments called, Discover Sedona NOW every Friday on the show. The segments showcase the best of Sedona and Northern AZ. Glenn has also co produced live events in Sedona including An Evening With Norman Lear and a concert event with Grammy Winner India.Arie all at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Glenn now has a film streaming on Amazon Prime in which he produced and co stars with his One Day At A Time alumna Mackenzie Phillips. The film is called, Sacred Journeys and was filmed entirely in Sedona. Glenn and Mackenzie can also be seen in cameo roles on the reboot of One Day At A Time streaming now on Netflix. In 1977, at the age of 10, Scarpelli made his Broadway debut, appearing in the play Golda with Anne Bancroft. He returned to the stage in 1979 with the role of Richard, Duke of York in the Broadway revival of Richard III starring Al Pacino. Scarpelli's role as Alex Handris (1980–83) on the long-running television situation comedy One Day at a Time is his most prominent. He left that sitcom to appear in the NBC sitcom Jennifer Slept Here. Other television appearances include 3-2-1 Contact, Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories, MacGyver and The Love Boat. He was also a co-host in summer 1983 of the NBC game show/human interest show Fantasy. He released a self-titled pop album in 1983, which included the single Get a Love On. After appearing in thirteen episodes of the highly promoted, but short-lived sitcom Jennifer Slept Here starring Ann Jillian, and making guest appearances on The Love Boat, 3-2-1 Contact, MacGuyver and a special episode of Amazing Stories written by Steven Spielberg and directed by Martin Scorsese, Glenn left acting behind. He moved back to New York and enrolled into film school. More recently, Scarpelli had a cameo role in the Netflix revival of One Day at a Time during its third season, released in 2019.
