First lady Jill Biden dined with the first lady of France, Brigitte Macron, Friday evening, ahead of the Group of 20 summit in Italy this weekend.

The two met at Il Marchese, a restaurant near the Tiber River, and as they exited, Biden said their evening was "wonderful."

The women dined as their husbands were meeting for the first time since a U.S. submarine deal with Australia and the U.K. rattled relations between the United States and France.
