Peru became the 21st country to join the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances when it presented its instrument of ratification to the Director General of WIPO on September 27, 2018.
Thirty contracting parties are needed for the Treaty to enter into force. The Beijing Treaty brings audiovisual performers into the fold of the international copyright framework in a comprehensive way.
The instrument of ratification was presented to the Director General on the sidelines of the Assemblies of Member States of WIPO, which met in Geneva from September 24 to October 2, 2018.
