(17 Jun 2016) Senators Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Bill Nelson, D-Fla., paid a visit to a large memorial set up in Orlando to mourn the victims of last weekend's mass shooting at a gay nightclub.
Speaking to reporters at the memorial, Rubio said he thinks the tragedy will spur more debate in Washington about how to "get dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people."
Both senators met with a group of law enforcement who responded to the shooting, which included one officer who was wounded by gunfire.
Senator Nelson commended the first responders for their bravery.
"To run into a building with your weapon not knowing if you're going to meet a bullet... those guys are true heroes -- they really are," Nelson said.
