PART 1 (My $50 Auxiliary Light Setup): [ Ссылка ]
Today I'm showing how I have my electrical system set up on my 2017 V-Strom 650XT, so that I can never accidentally drain my battery. My system works so that as soon as I turn my motorcycle off, all of my electrical accessories stop receiving power.

DETAILS:
MAIN RELAY & AUXILIARY FUSE BOX: I use a fuse box to connect my electrical accessories to the bike, instead of wiring directly onto the battery. I then use a relay (the one pointed out at 2:44 in the video) in order to send power to the auxiliary fuse box only when the bike/key is turned on. The relay has four wires coming in/out of it: 1) one "output" positive wire (which runs to the auxiliary fuse box to provide power), 2) one "input" positive wire which runs to the positive terminal of the battery (using an in-line fuse located as close to the battery as possible, to protect the entire electrical system - this is NOT the in-line fuse I discuss in the video at 4:16, it is the black part on the thickest red wire coming from the battery, best seen at 4:14-4:56), 3) one ground wire, and 4) one "trigger" wire - the "trigger" wire is the wire that triggers the relay and tells it to send power from the battery to the auxiliary fuse box. In my case, I wanted the relay to be triggered on and send power to the auxiliary fuse box (and therefore all of my accessories attached to it) only when the bike was turned on - therefore, I had to find a power source on the bike that only received power when the bike was turned on. I decided to splice the "trigger" wire into the tail-light wire (because the tail-light only turns on when the bike is turned on).
AUXILIARY LIGHTS AND LIGHT RELAY: For my auxiliary lights, I use another relay (the one at 3:17 in the video) in order to make the physical rocker switch turn the lights on and off (the rocker switch I installed at the front of the bike, shown/discussed in the PART 1 video). Just like the main relay used to send power to the auxiliary fuse box only when the bike is turned on, this relay is setup to "trigger" only when the physical rocker switch is turned on. Four wires go in/out of this relay: 1) an "input" positive wire, which runs to one of the positive terminals on the auxiliary fuse box (this wire uses an in-line fuse - THIS is the one I point out in the video, wrapped in red electrical tape), 2) an "output" positive wire, which runs to the auxiliary lights at the front of the bike, 3) a ground wire, which runs to one of the negative terminals on the auxiliary fuse box, and 4) the "trigger" wire, which runs to the rocker switch. When the rocker switch is turned on, it triggers the relay, sending power to the auxiliary lights (if the bike is on!).
If I didn’t use the main relay/auxiliary fuse box, and connected the light relay directly to the battery, the lights would still be switched on/off by the rocker switch, BUT, it would do so when the bike is turned off as well. By using the main relay & auxiliary fuse box, the rocker switch will only turn on the auxiliary lights when the bike is turned on, because the auxiliary fuse box is only receiving/sending power to the accessories when the bike is turned on. Therefore, if the bike is off, the rocker switch does not turn on the lights, preventing them from being left on when the bike is off, draining the battery. As soon as I turn the key to off, the auxiliary fuse box isn’t receiving power, so all of my electrical accessories stop getting power immediately.
