FOLLOW THIS GUIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This guide is much more friendly for beginners as modding the Compaq 6910p is far easier than the Latitude D830/Precision M4300 I've done in the previous video! That said, the risks are still there.
No cutting trace on the motherboard or putting jumpers in the socket required!
And if you replace the 1KOhm resistor with a big thru hole component, then even a fine tip on the soldering iron is not required and only requires the most basic soldering skills!
This guide is a mod that allows 965GM/PM laptops like the HP Compaq 6910p to work with 1066Mhz FSB, and use that to either accept a 1066Mhz FSB CPU that's otherwise not going to work!
This will most likely be very similar with other models such as the 6510b, 6710b, 8510p, 8510w. 945 series chipset models such as the nc6320, nc6400, nc8400 are NOT supported!
It's unknown if this would work well on an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario as those motherboards are of much lower quality.
This mod is making the clock generator to generate 266Mhz BCLK (1066Mhz FSB), while the Northbridge is still made to think that it is still running with 800Mhz FSB.
My knowledge of this mod has come from the ThinkPad forum and Notebookreview forums, when the forum was still alive...
