Dalton Outlaw sees himself in the youth he teaches at Element Gym. It’s why he offers scholarships to at-risk and underserved youth and won’t turn anyone away for lack of funds.
“I’m passionate about the work that I do because I came from these same streets,” he says.
Outlaw started Element Gym in 2011 as a boxing gym but also a community hub to bring people together in his St. Paul, Minnesota neighborhood. He partners with the county and city as well as other nonprofits to serve more than 500 youth each year, both in and out of the gym.
