Why does Hughie look so similar to Simon Pegg in the boys comics?
Well, back when the boys comics was being created, artist Darick Robertson was looking for inspiration for Hughie Campbell and ended up designing the character off of Simon Pegg without his permission
At the time Simon Pegg was not yet a big name until Shaun of the Dead in 2004 and eventually Star Trek in 2009
He even comments that he might’ve been a little pissed off at this resemblance had he not been a fan of Garth Ennis and his previous works
Eventually when the Boys comics was adapted into a show, Pegg was unfortunately too old to play Hughie but the creator wanted to include him somehow, casting Pegg as Hughie’s father, Hugh Campbell Senior
