Trading metrics show how well a trader is doing. Every trader knows if he or she is making money, but profit or loss is the result of a trader's overall trades, not the cause. The cause of being profitable, or not, are shown in the metrics.
Very few traders know their metrics. Metrics determine if a trader will be able to "stay in the game", or blow out their account. A trader's metrics show whether the trader can make money consistently. Knowing their metrics, traders can learn, without risking real money, if they have what it takes to make money over the long term.
Trading metrics are similar to stats (statistics) that are maintained for, say, a baseball player: runs, hits, errors, rbi's, etc. You get it. The stats determine a player's value to the team, how much money he will earn, or even if he will be employed as a baseball player. The same thing goes for traders.
Trading metrics determine how much money a trader will make, or if he/she can be "employed" as a trader. Disclaimer: Futures trading involves substantial risk and is not appropriate for everyone.
