The Bahamas features thousands of square miles of glorious bonefish flats, and a stand up paddle board is a great way to explore the many small bays and inlets among the mangroves. Flats habitat is vital to the survival of many fish species--from bonefish to barracudas to sharks--and scientists still have much to learn. Bonefish & Tarpon Trust partners with universities and other organizations to implement tagging programs that will help us identify key spawning habitat, understand how angling affects populations, and track degradation of habitat from both natural and man-made causes. This is vital work to help ensure that these pristine flats stay healthy for generations to come.
