The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hawa Komson, has announced a three-year moratorium on new fishing canoes in the artisanal fisheries industry from October 1, following a stakeholder meeting in Accra.

The move is to preserve and sustain Ghana's fisheries resources.
