罗伯特·库恩，出生于美国纽约，科学家、战略家、投资银行家、中国问题专家。2017年，年过70的库恩深入中国贫困地区，先后走访贵州、甘肃、新疆、山西、四川、海南等地，探访中国贫困家庭并制作了纪录片——《前线之声：中国脱贫攻坚》。经过“嵌入式”的考察和拍摄，库恩说，中国的精准扶贫是一个能消除偏见并改变西方民众对中国认知的强有力的故事。
2018年12月18日，在庆祝改革开放40周年大会上，库恩因多年来致力于向世界讲述全面、真实的中国故事，获颁中国改革友谊奖章。本期《风云对话》主持人朱梓橦专访中国问题专家、中国改革友谊奖章获得者罗伯特·库恩。
