(25 Sep 1978) Israel's Prime Minister Menachem Begin has opened the Israeli Parliament's historic debate on the Camp David Peace Proposals, urging MPs to accept them with what he said was "a hurting and grieving heart, but a quiet conscience." He was repeatedly interrupted by Mrs Geula Cohen, a member of his own Herut party who demanded his resignation. Mrs Cohen began her attack on Mr Begin almost as he began speaking. She continued to interrupt him, his thirty minute speech took an hour to read, and eventually mps voted to exclude her from the meeting.
